Platinum wan'ao Victory Hotel
Our 8-day self-drive trip across Shaanxi ended with a stay at Platinum Wan'ao Victory Hotel in Xi'an, and overall, it was an excellent choice. The location is incredibly convenient—right across from Hepingmen Metro Station, just a 50-meter walk away, making public transit access seamless for exploring the city. The hotel faces the ancient city wall directly, and it’s only about a 1.7-kilometer stroll to Yongning Gate if you want to walk along the wall—a pleasant way to enjoy the historic surroundings. Upon check-in, the front desk proactively upgraded us to a larger room, which made a big difference: spacious enough to comfortably unpack and move around, and ideal for family travel. Cleanliness was spot-on, meeting standard expectations without any issues. One minor drawback is the parking situation—being a multi-level garage, it’s not the most user-friendly, especially for larger vehicles, though my compact car navigated it easily. Breakfast was decent but not particularly impressive by luxury hotel standards—nothing overly elaborate, and we didn’t receive a third breakfast for our parents, which was slightly disappointing since this was one of only two hotels on the entire trip that didn’t offer it. Still, considering the excellent location, helpful staff, room comfort, and overall value, it’s hard not to give high praise. For travelers prioritizing convenience and a solid base in central Xi’an, this hotel is a strong recommendation.

The staff, especially our host Star, were incredibly warm and welcoming; they even gave us a little gift when checking out—such a thoughtful touch! Every evening, there’s a complimentary sweet soup served as part of the “goodnight” ritual, and the afternoon tea buffet is a lovely treat. Water bottles are available on every floor with no limits—super convenient. I also appreciated the 6th-floor laundry room, which comes equipped with detergent so you don’t have to bring your own. The room layout is fantastic: spacious, well-designed, and features a full-length mirror that makes getting ready a breeze. Everything about this place feels thoughtfully put together. Highly recommend it to friends and travelers looking for comfort, charm, and great value in a central location.

The hotel’s side entrance leads straight into the Tang Paradise Night Market, and it’s just a 10-minute walk to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda—ideal for evening strolls. The staff, especially Zoe and Kiko at reception, were incredibly attentive and thoughtful—they even provided kids’ toiletries without being asked. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the bedding was wonderfully comfortable, making for a restful night’s sleep. Great for families, as I felt completely at ease traveling with my children. Breakfast offered a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options—plenty of choices and delicious quality. One small downside: the key card doesn’t allow charging after removal, which was slightly inconvenient. But honestly, this minor issue doesn’t take away from an outstanding experience. If you’re visiting Xi’an, this hotel should be at the top of your list.

We’ve stayed at Blue Sea Wind before and had an excellent experience, so when we planned a trip to Xi’an with our parents, this was our top choice. We booked two nights in a Club Room on a higher floor—great views of the city skyline, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The Club Lounge served delicious food with a nice variety, especially the afternoon tea spread—well-prepared and thoughtfully presented. Special thanks to Xiao Ma and Bella, who were incredibly helpful from the start. They offered useful travel tips and guidance well before arrival, and their warm, attentive service continued throughout our stay. The hotel is just steps away from the metro station, making it super convenient to explore the city center without hassle. Our parents were particularly impressed by the room comfort and cleanliness—they said it felt like home. Overall, the quality of service, location, and amenities exceeded expectations. This is definitely a hotel we’ll return to, and one we highly recommend to fellow travelers.
