With no umbrella inside and the storm showing no sign of letting up, I figured I’d wait it out. But the rain only worsened. Just when I was wondering if it would ever stop, a staff member from the front desk appeared beside my car, holding an umbrella, asking if I’d like to come inside. I was stunned—how did she know I was here? She explained she noticed my headlights were on and assumed someone was inside. As she guided me through the rain, she kept tilting the umbrella toward me, shielding me completely. By the time we reached the lobby, her back was soaked. That moment of quiet dedication brought tears to my eyes. Moments after checking in, a staff member knocked on my door with a thoughtful meal—no joke, I hadn’t even mentioned being hungry! But somehow, they heard me say, “I haven’t eaten yet,” and remembered. Small gestures, big impact. When I checked out, I asked about the kind woman who helped me—I learned her name was Zhao Xiaonian, and the one who delivered the meal was Xiao Nan.
