I can't stress enough — you absolutely must stay here! This is one of those rare gems that truly captures the authentic German charm. The room is a spacious one-bedroom layout with a cozy, well-thought-out design that feels both traditional and comfortable. Plus, free parking right at the door is a huge plus — though finding a spot might require a little patience, it’s definitely worth the effort. Located just steps away from local cafes, shops, and easy access to public transit, getting around Cologne is a breeze. I’ve stayed in many boutique hotels across Europe, but this one stands out for its warmth, character, and excellent value. If you're visiting Cologne, do yourself a favor and book this place — you won’t regret it!
Staying at Hotel am Chlodwigplatz was a delightful experience. Located in the southern part of Cologne, it's easily accessible by public transit and offers a peaceful atmosphere just minutes from the city’s buzz. The hotel is well-run with a great value-for-money proposition. Rooms are tastefully renovated—modern yet cozy—with comfortable mattresses and soft cotton bedding that made for a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast is available during weekdays at a reasonable price, and on weekends, you can enjoy a delicious meal at the in-house restaurant, Armer Ritter, starting at 9:00 AM. The front desk is only staffed from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, but check-in is straightforward thanks to a simple and efficient system—no long queues or hassle. It’s clear the team prioritizes convenience without sacrificing quality. Overall, this is a charming, well-located hotel with excellent comfort and service. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Cologne.
This hidden gem of a hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The rooms are beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches—each one unique and full of character, even featuring fans for added comfort. We booked five different rooms for a group stay over the CSD weekend, and every single one had its own charm. The cozy interior courtyard and complimentary coffee made it the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day. But what really stood out was the front desk staff—kind, incredibly helpful, and genuinely warm. We felt so welcome and at home throughout our entire stay. If you're looking for a charming, well-located place to stay in Cologne, this is an absolute must-book. Highly recommended!
I stayed at Ferienwohnung Bankwitz in Cologne and was really impressed overall. The location is excellent—just a short metro ride from the city center, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The apartment is clean, modern, and well-equipped, perfect for a solo traveler. While the bed is on the smaller side, it’s absolutely fine for one person and provided a comfortable night’s sleep. The space feels cozy and thoughtfully designed, and having a kitchenette made meal prep easy. It’s a great value for the price, and I’d definitely choose this place again when visiting Cologne.
This stay was absolutely perfect! The hotel's location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the Cologne Cathedral, and everything else in the city center is easily accessible. We stayed in a family room, and it was spacious enough for our whole family of four, with plenty of room to move around and even a separate sleeping area for the kids. The cleanliness was impressive from the moment we stepped in—everything felt fresh and well-maintained. Breakfast was fantastic: hot dishes, fresh pastries, fruit, and coffee that tasted like it came from a local café. Plus, having convenient parking on-site made arriving by car stress-free. Everything about this experience exceeded expectations. I’ll definitely be back next time I visit Cologne, and I’d highly recommend this hotel to any family looking for comfort, convenience, and great value.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly—truly made our stay special! The room was a bit warm, but it didn’t take away from the overall great experience. The hotel is well located, just a short walk from the city center, and everything about the place felt clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. We’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Cologne.
My stay at Black Sheep Hostel in Cologne was a mixed experience. The main issue was communication—after booking, I didn’t receive the confirmation email until checking my spam folder, which caused some confusion upon arrival. There’s no clear way to alert staff once you’re on-site, and I never actually saw a hostel employee during my entire visit. Only one friendly volunteer handed me my key, and that was it. The room itself was decent: each bed has its own power socket and privacy curtains, which is a nice touch for personal space. However, the overall property feels a bit neglected—cleanliness could be improved, and some facilities seem outdated or in need of repair. It’s not terrible, but with a bit more attention to upkeep and guest interaction, this place could really shine. If you're visiting Cologne and looking for a budget-friendly base, it's workable—but just be prepared to handle things independently.
The location of the FlatDeCologne - CityPerle apartment in Cologne was excellent—right next to public transit, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, offering great dining options anytime of day or night. The S1 unit was clean overall, and the bathroom was well-maintained. However, the sleeping arrangements were misleading: instead of two double beds as advertised, it had just one double bed and a sofa bed that was practically unusable. The sofa bed had almost no padding—sleeping on it felt like lying on a wooden board. The double bed featured a rigid slatted base and a thin mattress topper (about 10cm thick) that was already sagging in the middle, making it extremely uncomfortable. The main issue, though, was the lack of sound insulation. The room was only separated from the hallway by a glass door, so every time someone passed through or slammed doors—especially the damaged access door to the courtyard and the fire-rated inner door—the noise was unbearable, both during the day and at night. We even experienced multiple incidents where someone tried to open our door, mistaking it for the courtyard entrance. To make matters worse, the hallway lighting was extremely bright, flooding the room whenever anyone walked by—happening every single night. This made blackout impossible, disrupting sleep severely. Despite the great location, we strongly advise against choosing this specific S1 apartment—it’s not worth the discomfort and stress.
This Novotel in Cologne is an absolute gem! The location is fantastic—just a 25-minute walk from the train station, making it super convenient for travelers arriving by rail. We were welcomed warmly and checked in without any wait, which was a big plus. The staff even gave our kids cute little plush dog toys—such a thoughtful touch! Inside, the hotel is spotless, well-designed, and very inviting. What really stands out is the on-site restaurant: open late into the night, so if you arrive tired and hungry after dark, you can grab a meal here before heading to bed—no stress at all. It’s also walking distance to major attractions like the Chocolate Museum, the Rhine River promenade, and of course, the iconic Cologne Cathedral. If we ever return to Cologne, this is definitely where we’ll stay again. The breakfast is worth every penny—plenty of variety, fresh, and delicious. A top-tier experience overall.
Staying at Mercure Hotel Severinshof Koeln City was an absolute pleasure. The hotel is perfectly located right next to the subway exit—just step out and you're in the heart of the action. The front door opens directly onto a lively shopping street with plenty of affordable dining options nearby. Walking just a few minutes takes you to the city's secondary center or straight to the Rhine River, where I enjoyed morning runs along the scenic path. The atmosphere is quiet yet convenient, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. It’s a great base for exploring Cologne, offering both comfort and accessibility. Highly recommend this gem!
Staying at this hotel was an absolutely fantastic experience. The room had excellent soundproofing—no noise from the hallway or outside, making it incredibly peaceful for a good night's sleep. The space was spotless, well-maintained, and the bed was super comfortable. The front desk staff were professional, friendly, and went out of their way to assist with anything we needed. Breakfast was a highlight—great variety, fresh ingredients, and delicious local touches that made it memorable. Getting to Cologne Cathedral is straightforward if you follow the main route, but be careful with map directions—some apps might send you on a slightly confusing detour. Stick to the general direction, and you’ll find your way easily. Overall, the location, service, and comfort make this a top choice. I’d definitely stay here again.
Staying at NH Koeln Altstadt was an absolute delight. Right outside the hotel is the Chocolate Museum—though we didn’t go in, just walking past it felt like stepping into a sweet little adventure. The location is unbeatable: a short walk to both the train station and Cologne Cathedral, making exploring the city effortless. After dinner, we enjoyed strolling along the Rhine River promenade, soaking in the evening ambiance before heading back to the cozy hotel. Everything about this stay—from the convenient access to attractions to the peaceful riverside vibe—felt seamless and relaxing. Highly recommend for travelers who value location, charm, and a touch of local flair.
