We had a wonderful weekend trip to Shanghai with our family of three, mainly visiting the Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower with our kids. We casually searched for a hotel and ended up staying at this one—what a pleasant surprise! The hotel is very close to Line 14, making it super easy to reach by metro, and the building itself is spacious and well-designed. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My standard room came with an extra set of toiletries—such a thoughtful touch! I especially want to commend a young staff member named Mr. Sun; his professionalism and warm attitude made our stay even better. Inside, the hotel feels clean, airy, and comfortable, with plenty of room to move around—perfect for families. The value for money is outstanding. If we come back to Shanghai, this will definitely be our first choice again.

The front desk staff, Summer and Priscina, were incredibly warm and welcoming—they even upgraded us to a business executive king room at no extra cost! The service here feels timeless, with that classic old-money elegance. Breakfast was abundant and delicious, offering a great start to the day. For business travelers, this is an ideal choice with outstanding value. Hotel Equatorial Shanghai is one of Shanghai’s original five-star hotels, dating back to the early days of reform and opening-up in the 1990s. It’s undergoing a major renovation this year, so we’re excited to see how refreshed it will look. I’ll definitely be booking again once the upgrades are complete.
