Check-in was a bit stressful at first, but the on-duty manager handled everything with great empathy and professionalism. After a calm conversation, the issue was resolved smoothly—and they even surprised me with afternoon tea, evening entertainment, and a bottle of wine. The next day’s airport transfer was excellent too; driver Andy was friendly, courteous, and helped carry my luggage without being asked. We had a pleasant chat throughout the ride. A few suggestions for improvement: the afternoon tea selection was limited, and the fruit—especially the watermelon—wasn’t very fresh. Dinner options were also quite narrow. The room stayed chilly despite running the heater all night—temperature barely reached 15°C, so adding a heating option would be helpful. Also, breakfast was missing some items, and they weren’t replenished promptly. That said, the overall experience was still positive. The staff responded quickly to feedback, and the views from the room were stunning—especially sunrise in the morning. One small disappointment: no capsule or instant coffee available, which is common even in budget hotels. Adding that would make the stay much more convenient for guests who rely on coffee.

Following the photos provided by the staff made finding the hotel super easy—right across from San Yi Tang, so it’s very easy to spot. What stood out most was the luggage transfer service; traveling with an elderly person and a child, I can’t imagine managing without it. Navigating around Gulangyu is notoriously tricky, but the visual guidance really saved the day. The breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and incredibly delicious, and the afternoon tea set was a delightful bonus. Sipping tea in the second-floor garden felt like a peaceful retreat—perfect for unwinding and even saving money on coffee. Overall, this stay was exceptional from start to finish. The hospitality, attention to detail, and serene atmosphere make it a must-visit. Highly recommended!

One highlight was the kids’ play area on the 4th floor. We called ahead, and within just one minute, someone opened the door. Even though it was just us, the concierge manager Andy Yang personally stayed with our child, playing games and keeping him entertained—our little one had a blast. When we were leaving, Andy walked us all the way to the car, reminded the kid to dress warmly, and made sure he wouldn’t catch a cold. That level of care truly touched us. From start to finish, every detail felt personal and warm. This place isn’t just a hotel—it’s a home away from home. I’ll definitely come back here next time I visit Xiamen.

There are around 16 parking spots available, and the security staff were extremely attentive and friendly—they made sure our car was safe throughout our stay. The front desk team was welcoming and professional—every staff member had a warm smile and went the extra mile to assist us. The hotel itself feels brand new, with modern furnishings and spotless rooms. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The breakfast spread was impressive—offering a good mix of local and international options, all fresh and tasty. From start to finish, the experience exceeded expectations. Many travelers assume hotels on Gulangyu Island are expensive, but this 4-star property offered incredible value—priced at just half of what I paid for a 5-star option elsewhere. Even more impressive was the breakfast experience: I booked three breakfasts, but the room only came with two. When I mentioned this, the manager kindly confirmed all three could be enjoyed by our group—a rare and thoughtful gesture I’ve never experienced before. The breakfast itself was delicious and well-balanced. After check-out, I even received a friendly message checking if I arrived safely at my next destination. Xiamen Harbor Bay Hotel (Zhongshan Road First Wharf Store)

We stayed at this hotel during the New Year holiday with our own car, and the main reason for choosing it was the availability of parking — especially important during peak seasons when spaces fill up quickly. We were lucky to secure a spot on a first-come, first-served basis, which worked out well. My room was from the original section, not the recently renovated wing, but cleanliness was excellent — everything felt fresh, including crisp linens and a spotless bathroom with no water stains. The staff went above and beyond: front desk personnel and housekeeping were friendly and helpful, even offering me a tea set for my stay — such a thoughtful touch. One thing to note: the elevator requires a room key card, so food deliveries had to be left in the lobby. However, walking to the bustling Baishi Market only takes about 10–15 minutes (including crossing busy intersections), making it easy to explore local street food and vibe. Overall, despite minor logistics, the location, cleanliness, and warm service made this a truly enjoyable stay. I’d definitely come back if I visit Xiamen again.

Upon check-in, we received thoughtful little gifts like hand cream, and afternoon tea was available until 6 PM, which was a lovely surprise. The room had no central ceiling light, so if you prefer brighter lighting, you might want to bring a personal lamp. That said, the overall experience was fantastic—the ambiance, service, and attention to detail made this stay truly memorable.
