There’s a small convenience store and a cozy coffee shop right downstairs—perfect for grabbing breakfast or a quick caffeine fix in the morning. The front desk staff went above and beyond by upgrading my room at no extra cost—spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a great bed. Unfortunately, we hit bad weather with a typhoon, causing several attractions we had tickets for to close unexpectedly, which was disappointing. Still, the hotel itself delivered an excellent experience overall. Great value, friendly service, and ideal for travelers who prioritize location and convenience. It’s been a while since I stayed at Backpack Ten, and I was immediately welcomed like family—so warm and familiar. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and honestly, I slept better here than in many hotels. It felt safe, peaceful, and truly relaxing—just one minor note: the cleaning staff came by at 10 a.m., which was a bit loud, but not enough to ruin the experience. I’d love to see some live acoustic music sometime—maybe someone strumming guitar and singing, just like in those heartwarming clips from Da Bing. I’ve been inspired by his stories for years, and although I didn’t make it to Da Bing’s little house this time due to tight timing, I’m already planning my next visit. This place has that rare mix of comfort, community, and soul—perfect for travelers who value connection over convenience. A real gem in Suzhou, and definitely worth returning to.

The only minor hiccup was with the screen mirroring feature; it wasn’t clear which room the signal was coming from, but honestly, it didn’t take away from the overall amazing stay. One of the most beautiful family-friendly five-star hotels right by Jinji Lake—truly a standout! The front desk staff were incredibly warm and thoughtful, even surprising our little one with a sweet welcome gift. The buffet was fantastic—so many delicious options, and dining while watching the lake's fountain show at night was an absolute treat, especially during the Christmas season. The grand Christmas tree in the lobby added such a magical atmosphere. Our kids loved the kids' play area so much they didn’t want to leave! We always come to Jinji Lake and have stayed at InterContinental Suzhou multiple times—truly a go-to choice. The hotel overlooks the lake, and Moonlight Pier is just across the bridge—super convenient for walking or taking the metro. This time, we brought my elderly parent who had just recovered from a fracture; mobility was limited, and even eating and moving around were challenging. From check-in onward, the staff went above and beyond. When we requested two rooms, they kindly arranged adjacent ones for easier supervision. Throughout breakfast and dinner buffet service, the team showed exceptional care. During dinner, a young, friendly server noticed our situation and proactively brought a cushion so my parent could elevate their injured arm—something that actually helped with swelling. He even explained the medical reasoning behind it! That level of thoughtfulness and knowledge stood out. Every interaction felt personal, warm, and professional. We’ve already taken photos of several team members’ name tags—we’d love to see them recognized by the hotel. Definitely coming back again!

Staying at Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu was an absolute delight. The location is fantastic—right next to 711, FamilyMart, and Starbucks, so grabbing a quick coffee or snack is super convenient. A short walk takes you to Xinguang Plaza and Juyou Department Store, perfect for some shopping without needing to travel far. In the evening, we headed to the Ferris wheel and were pleasantly surprised by how few people were in line—got tickets and boarded right away, enjoying stunning views of the city skyline. The hotel’s Chinese restaurant served amazing noodles with crisp vegetables, and the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish was freshly prepared—absolutely delicious. Breakfast was a highlight too, with a diverse menu including sesame dumplings, Ao Zao noodles, egg rolls, Benedict eggs, sweet pea and pomelo cheese salad, and the yellow peach milk banana pancake—each dish was flavorful and satisfying. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. From comfort to convenience, every detail was spot-on. This place truly delivers on luxury and value. I’ll definitely be back.
