Lian Yun Hotel
We stayed at Lian Yun Hotel for both legs of our trip to Kunming and the southeastern Yunnan loop, and it was an excellent experience. On arrival, we checked into Building 2—clean, well-maintained, and super convenient with great value for money. A few days later, when we returned to Kunming, Building 2 was fully booked due to government meetings, so we were lucky to secure a room in Building 5. The newly renovated building has a sophisticated, elegant vibe, and a friendly staff member even helped us personally tour the rooms. We finally picked one with a stunning view through a huge window—truly like stepping into a painting! We’d have loved to extend our stay by two more days, but had to leave early. Still, we’re deeply grateful to Mr. An at the front desk for going the extra mile—negotiating with guests who already had reservations to help us keep our original room. Though we couldn’t stay longer, his professionalism and kindness made all the difference. While Lian Yun Hotel may be smaller than iconic venues like Hangzhou’s West Lake Guesthouse or Zhenjiang’s Reception Hall, its service quality is absolutely on par. And being just steps away from Cuihu Lake, it offers the perfect balance of urban convenience and peaceful retreat—ideal for travelers who want to slow down in the heart of Kunming.
