Unfortunately, we hit bad weather with a typhoon, causing several attractions we had tickets for to close unexpectedly, which was disappointing. It’s been a while since I stayed at Backpack Ten, and I was immediately welcomed like family—so warm and familiar. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and honestly, I slept better here than in many hotels. It felt safe, peaceful, and truly relaxing—just one minor note: the cleaning staff came by at 10 a.m., which was a bit loud, but not enough to ruin the experience. I’d love to see some live acoustic music sometime—maybe someone strumming guitar and singing, just like in those heartwarming clips from Da Bing. I’ve been inspired by his stories for years, and although I didn’t make it to Da Bing’s little house this time due to tight timing, I’m already planning my next visit. This place has that rare mix of comfort, community, and soul—perfect for travelers who value connection over convenience. A real gem in Suzhou, and definitely worth returning to.

The front desk staff also showed great care by helping carry luggage both upon arrival and departure, which meant so much during a short visit. The room was incredibly comfortable, with powerful air conditioning that made the stay so pleasant. Entry requires a key card, which adds a nice layer of security and peace of mind. Just 30 meters from Pingjiang Road pedestrian street, everything you need—restaurants, shops, local snacks—is right at your doorstep. If you'd rather stay in, there’s a quiet tea lounge where you can sip tea and read books, plus dining options available through group deals—perfect for those lazy days. The front desk staff were friendly, patient, and always ready to help. And don’t miss the vintage rosewood trunks—they’re a standout feature with real character. A place I’d definitely return to, without hesitation.

Jinling Aster Hotel Suzhou

Staying at Jinling Aster Hotel Suzhou was a delightful experience. The hotel is literally across from the metro station, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city—just a short walk to get on the train. Free parking is a big plus for travelers driving in. Breakfast and lunch were both excellent, especially since the famous Cai Xiang Market is right behind the hotel, offering fresh and delicious local food. I couldn’t resist trying the Xucheng Mooncakes nearby—they’re absolutely worth it! There’s also a great local noodle shop, Huajiao Restaurant, just steps away, serving hearty, authentic dishes. The hotel itself has a rich history—it’s said to be Suzhou’s first five-star hotel, and its rooftop restaurant used to be a well-known landmark. Despite its heritage, the pricing feels very reasonable and fair. The room was clean, comfortable, and the overall vibe made me feel right at home. If you’re looking for a centrally located, affordable, and authentic stay in Suzhou, this place is an absolute gem.

Garden Hotel SUZHOU

Although the hotel was undergoing renovations to the temple and Building 8, and it was winter, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy the beautiful garden scenery of Nanyuan. Still, the overall experience was outstanding. The staff were exceptional—helping with luggage, offering electric shuttle service between buildings, and ensuring comfort throughout. Even in the evening, the fitness center and swimming pool were warm and inviting, so no worries about getting cold. Breakfast was one of the better ones in this chain: the noodle stall stood out with unique items like sesame brown sugar smoothies and a special vegetarian pan-fried dumpling. Staff were attentive—the moment my mom sat down, someone asked if she wanted soy milk, and three cups arrived right away. The duplex room was spacious, especially the second-floor bedroom, which felt very comfortable. A few facilities could use upgrading—like the showerhead pressure and the small, outdated changing rooms at the pool area. That said, the evening ambiance in the lobby was truly magical: soft melodies from pipa and guqin performances created a peaceful, almost tea-house-like atmosphere. Sitting back with a cup of tea and chatting quietly was incredibly relaxing. Huge thanks to Xiao Yueyue at reception, and all the front desk and concierge team—your warmth and professionalism made a lasting impression.
