The night before we left, we tried Xiangzi’s House—a small family-run spot—and their fried meat was absolutely delicious. I even packed a takeaway box to enjoy later. The neighboring rib rice bowl was another highlight—simple, hearty, and full of flavor. The room was spacious, clean, and exactly as shown in the photos, which is always a relief. We explored all the sights during the day, then enjoyed the evening light show at the Olympic Sailing Center before strolling over to a local bar for a drink. Walking back took just about 10 minutes, so everything felt so convenient and well-connected. The location, cleanliness, and overall value make this hotel a top pick. My connection with this chain started when I lived near Jinjiang Hotel in Chengdu as a kid—truly a local landmark there. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful; they noticed my original room was small and faced the street, so they upgraded me to a double-bed room at no extra cost. That kind of personal touch made all the difference. While some facilities are a bit dated, the room was spotlessly clean—exactly what you want from a reliable budget-friendly hotel. What really stood out? The breakfast. Seriously, it was better than many meals I’ve had at four-star hotels. Only one minor downside: a couple in the adjacent room kept opening and closing their door over a dozen times during the night, which woke me up a few times. But honestly, that didn’t ruin the overall experience. I checked in on Friday, and the location was perfect—just a 3-4 minute walk to Nanjing Road Metro Station. For under $10 USD per night including breakfast, the value is unbeatable. Plus, the team even kindly reminded me to leave a review—would’ve done it sooner if I wasn’t rushing to catch my next train.
