Hangzhou Qiantang River Marriott Hotel is highly recommended for its panoramic views of the Qiantang River tidal bore, especially during high tide when the dramatic wave surge creates a breathtaking spectacle. Located in the city's prime commercial district, it offers easy access to City Sunshine Plaza within a 5-minute walk. The hotel features an elevated rooftop garden and a riverside dining restaurant perfect for sunset views over the golden waters, blending modern urban luxury with natural grandeur.
The most convenient option is taking Line 4 of the Hangzhou Metro, exiting at either Qiantang River Station or Citizen Center Station, both within walking distance of the Qiantang River Riverside Walkway. The journey takes about 25 minutes with no transfers, and trains run frequently. For a scenic alternative, rent an electric bike along the route—passing by the Qiantang River Bridge and Olympic Sports Center—to enjoy the seamless blend of modern architecture and riverside beauty while experiencing the city’s vibrant rhythm.
Don’t miss the Qiantang River Light & Sound Show at Citizen Center Square, a large-scale water projection display that combines advanced technology with themes of Hangzhou’s history and future. Alternatively, take a night cruise on an electric boat to view illuminated landmarks like the Qiantang River Bridge and Olympic Sports Center from the water—creating a dreamlike scene where starlight reflects on the river surface. Riverside cafés also offer cozy outdoor seating, perfect for sipping coffee while soaking in the city’s enchanting nocturnal atmosphere.

This estate is absolutely massive—beyond the main building, it spreads across an entire hillside with a beautifully arranged cluster of villas (Xiangyuan) nestled among the trees. Just strolling in the sunshine felt like a mini escape from reality. The staff were proactive even before check-in, reaching out to ask about our preferences, and continued checking in throughout our stay—very attentive without being intrusive. From front desk to concierge, everyone responded quickly and warmly. We tried the yakitori dinner at Yiba and breakfast, both of which were delicious and well-prepared. Despite the surprisingly long corridors in the guest rooms—some of us joked we’d need a map to find our way back—the overall experience was outstanding. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s a peaceful retreat that made our weekend truly memorable.
