Free shuttle services connect guests to key attractions like Gulangyu Island's scenic spots, ensuring seamless exploration. This boutique retreat delivers an authentic cultural immersion amidst tranquil surroundings.

Start your day at Qinyuan Garden, exploring its classical garden layout and the Qin Music Exhibition Hall to appreciate Minnan elegance. Then stroll to nearby Gulangyu Island, taking a trolley or renting a bike to wander through historic foreign-style buildings. Visit Shuzhuang Garden and Haoyue Park in the afternoon for deeper cultural insight. End the day in Zengcuo'an Village, sampling local specialties like Sha Cha Mian and Peanut Soup, while enjoying evening light shows. Most sites are within walking distance or accessible via short electric shuttles, maximizing time and minimizing travel fatigue.

Families will enjoy hands-on experiences like the Qin Music Workshop hosted at the Gulangyu Music Pavilion, where children and parents can learn basic qin playing techniques and listen to live performances. Nearby, Zengcuo'an Kids' Creative Zone offers pottery and painting classes tailored for young artists. For outdoor fun, rent tandem bikes along the Huan Dao Lu Seashore Path, featuring rest stops and scenic overlooks. All these activities lie within a 3-km radius of Qinyuan Garden, making them easily accessible and ideal for quality family bonding time.

The most convenient option is taking Line 1 Metro from Longhushan Station, just a 10-minute walk from Qinyuan Garden—reaching downtown Xiamen (e.g., Zhongshan Road) in about 20 minutes. For greater flexibility, use shared e-bikes or ride-hailing apps, which take 15–20 minutes and cost roughly CNY 30. Additionally, several bus lines depart directly from the nearby Bus Terminal, connecting to major destinations like the Ferry Terminal and Wanda Plaza. All options ensure efficient access to urban amenities without hassle.

Immerse yourself in Minnan guqin heritage and Maritime Silk Road history. The garden hosts regular "Qin Sound Gatherings," featuring live performances by intangible cultural heritage masters playing classics like Pingsha Luo Yan and Meihua Sandong. Meanwhile, the Gulangyu International Music Hall hosts weekly intimate concerts blending Eastern and Western instruments. Guided tours also reveal the craftsmanship behind traditional Minnan brick houses, paired with tastings of homemade ingredients like ginger duck and oyster jelly, offering a genuine glimpse into Xiamen’s living culture.

Yes! Discover the bamboo grove path east of Qinyuan Garden—a misty, secluded trail surrounded by dense greenery that looks like a traditional Chinese ink painting at dawn. Another gem is the colorful mural wall beside the old post office on Gulangyu, featuring vibrant ocean-themed artwork against weathered red-brick walls, perfect for retro-chic shots. Don’t miss the rooftop terrace of Zengcuo'an Skyline Café, with floor-to-ceiling glass panels offering unobstructed views of the garden and sea horizon—ideal for stunning sunset silhouettes. These off-the-beaten-path locations are beloved by locals and photographers alike, offering unforgettable visual memories.

Recommended is Xiamen Yuehua Hotel (Gulangyu Branch), just 1.5 km from Qinyuan Garden, offering easy walking access. The hotel blends traditional Minnan architecture with modern design, featuring rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook lush garden views. Guests enjoy complimentary shuttle services to Qinyuan and other Gulangyu highlights, enhancing convenience. Additionally, guests receive exclusive guided tours exploring the garden’s historical significance and classical landscaping art.

Qinyuan Garden, a renowned classical Chinese garden in Xiamen, features winding paths, artificial hills, and serene ponds—perfect for experiencing Minnan elegance. Visit during early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and fully appreciate the meticulous layout of plants and stones.

The most convenient option is taking the metro to Zhongshan Road Station or Pier Station, then transferring to a bus or taxi—approximately 20 minutes. If driving, parking is available nearby, but spaces are limited on weekends; pre-HopeGoo is advised. Alternatively, take a ferry from Xiamen mainland to Gulangyu Island—just 10 minutes by boat—with frequent departures.

Since Qinyuan Garden lies within the pedestrian-only zone of Gulangyu, motor vehicles are prohibited. Opt for walking or renting an electric scooter to explore at your own pace while enjoying scenic coastal views. This also supports the island’s conservation efforts and enhances the authentic experience.

Beyond touring Qinyuan Garden’s classical layout, try a traditional Minnan tea ceremony at nearby teahouses, where experts demonstrate oolong and Tieguanyin brewing techniques. Join a historic courtyard tour led by local guides who explain symbolic roof ornaments, wood carvings, and architectural heritage. Every Saturday evening features the Gulangyu Light & Music Show at the garden plaza, blending light installations with folk music for a magical atmosphere.

Qinyuan Garden is more than a scenic spot—it’s a living museum. Its preserved inscriptions and calligraphy offer deep cultural insight. Photographers should visit during misty mornings or golden hour for poetic lighting. Don’t miss the hidden exhibition zones for children, which use interactive tech to teach history through play.

Xiamen Gulangyu Wanguo Apartment is ideal for families, located just 800 meters from Qinyuan Garden. It offers spacious family suites with safety features, baby beds, and a dedicated kids’ playroom. Breakfast is complimentary, and special kid-friendly meals are provided. Family-oriented activities include garden scavenger hunts, paper-cutting workshops, and guided nature walks along coastal trails.

The garden itself includes interactive exhibits for children, using touchscreens and audio guides to teach about garden history and ecology in a fun way. For optimal experience, visit on weekends or holidays when fewer visitors ensure comfort and quieter exploration.

Must-visit spots include the Listening Rain Pavilion within Qinyuan Garden, whose curved eaves and white walls create striking visual contrast—especially after rain when droplets trickle down the roofs. Another favorite is the reflecting pool with arched bridge, surrounded by willows and lotus flowers in summer, perfect for mirror-like shots.

The stone-paved path beside the old banyan trees offers shaded, atmospheric scenes ideal for portrait photography. Use a polarizing filter to reduce glare and shoot during soft morning or late afternoon light for best results. For panoramic views, climb Riyang Rock, the highest point on Gulangyu, to capture Qinyuan Garden and the entire island in one frame.

Qinyuan Garden’s architectural details and spatial harmony make it a must-photograph destination. Its aesthetic balance and historical depth inspire both amateur and professional photographers.

Qinyuan Garden is open daily from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with last entry at 5:30 PM. Closed on Mondays for maintenance—check official updates before visiting. Ticket prices: 30 RMB for adults, half-price for students with valid ID, free for seniors over 60 and children under 1.2 meters. Tickets require advance HopeGoo via the "Xiamen Tourism" WeChat account or official website to avoid long queues.

The garden offers multilingual audio guides (Chinese, English, Japanese), enhancing accessibility for international travelers. Food is not allowed inside, but clean rest areas and tea bars are available. Allocate 1.5 to 2 hours for a full visit to appreciate every corner’s thoughtful design.

Our company team-building event brought us to Huangjia Garden Binhai Hotel, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. The property is spacious and beautifully designed with a charming South Seas courtyard vibe—perfect for exploring and taking photos. All facilities are well-maintained and thoughtfully provided. Cleanliness was top-notch throughout the stay, and the overall environment felt peaceful and inviting. Staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive—from check-in to our afternoon tea experience. We especially appreciated the welcome fruit basket featuring fresh milk lychees, which our colleagues loved for their sweet, crisp flavor. The South Seas-themed afternoon tea was a highlight: elegant presentation, delicious pastries, and a relaxed atmosphere that made bonding over tea and conversation easy and enjoyable. It’s rare to find such a seamless blend of comfort, charm, and service. Highly recommend this hotel for groups or anyone looking for a memorable, stress-free getaway.

Gulangyu Lijiayuan Seaview Villa Hotel (Sanqiutian Wharf)

Our kids specifically asked to stay here — and we’re so glad they did! The room was fantastic, and even though it’s been two years since our last visit, it still feels brand new with clean, well-maintained furnishings. The only minor downside is the empty pool in the courtyard — it looks a bit bare without water, but adding some plants could really bring it to life. Still, the swing was a big hit — my kids were swinging non-stop and laughing their heads off! The location is super convenient, just a short walk from Sanqiutian Wharf, and the overall vibe is peaceful and charming. For families looking for a relaxing, authentic getaway on Gulangyu Island, this place is absolutely worth a return visit.

It’s rare to find such a peaceful retreat with top-tier service and stunning scenery all in one. Located just steps away from Xiamen University's student dorms, it’s incredibly convenient for getting around the city, especially if you’re using public transit. The small swimming pool is ideal for kids to splash around in, and it also makes for a great spot to take Instagram-worthy photos. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and since I’m not used to local flavors, I appreciated being able to cook my own meals—there’s a fully equipped stove in the room, and there’s a fresh grocery store nearby with excellent seafood at affordable prices. Plus, there are tons of local eateries right around the corner—authentic, budget-friendly street food, and don’t miss the legendary traditional shāngshuǐ (sweet grass jelly) shop. Everything about this stay felt genuine, comfortable, and hassle-free. No regrets at all—I’d definitely come back.

Xinyaqi Sea View Villa

Stumbled upon this hidden gem on Gulangyu Island, and the room experience truly lives up to the hype! As soon as I opened the door, I was instantly drawn in by the warm wood tones paired with soft sheer curtains. The natural scent of the wooden furnishings, combined with the textured walls that exude a subtle wabi-sabi charm, created such a calming atmosphere. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, casting gentle shadows that danced across the space—pure serenity. Though the room isn’t huge, every inch is thoughtfully designed, making it feel spacious and uncluttered. The tatami-style bed was incredibly comfortable, layered with high-thread-count cotton-linen bedding that felt like sinking into a cloud, enhanced by a supportive memory foam mattress—perfect for unwinding after a full day exploring the island. The bathroom features a clean, separate dry zone with no lingering odors. Small but meaningful touches stood out: a USB port by the bedside, a discreet mosquito repellent plug-in, and fresh linens with a delicate, soothing fragrance—all replaced per guest. At night, the quiet was absolute, just the soft rustle of wind outside. No city noise, just peaceful stillness. It’s a rare blend of Japanese-inspired tranquility and the slow, authentic rhythm of life on Gulangyu. This place has already made my list for next time I visit Xiamen—I’d highly recommend it to anyone who loves minimalist, soulful stays.

C&D Hotel Xiamen

This was my second stay at this hotel, and the experience was just as excellent as the first time. During New Year's period, the hotel was lively with plenty of family-friendly activities that kept the kids entertained. The guest manager, Xiao Luo, went above and beyond—she reached out before check-in to confirm details and checked in regularly during our stay to ensure everything was satisfactory. On checkout day, she even arranged a late departure without hassle, which was incredibly thoughtful. The room itself was spotless and comfortable, with soft bedding that made for a restful night’s sleep. The housekeeping staff were thorough and attentive, leaving no corner untouched. Every team member we interacted with showed genuine warmth and professionalism. From start to finish, the service felt personal and caring. It’s a perfect choice for families or anyone looking for a welcoming, well-run hotel. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to others.

HUALUXE Xiamen Haicang Harbour View by IHG

Check-in was a bit stressful at first, but the on-duty manager handled everything with great empathy and professionalism. After a calm conversation, the issue was resolved smoothly—and they even surprised me with afternoon tea, evening entertainment, and a bottle of wine. The next day’s airport transfer was excellent too; driver Andy was friendly, courteous, and helped carry my luggage without being asked. We had a pleasant chat throughout the ride. A few suggestions for improvement: the afternoon tea selection was limited, and the fruit—especially the watermelon—wasn’t very fresh. Dinner options were also quite narrow. The room stayed chilly despite running the heater all night—temperature barely reached 15°C, so adding a heating option would be helpful. Also, breakfast was missing some items, and they weren’t replenished promptly. That said, the overall experience was still positive. The staff responded quickly to feedback, and the views from the room were stunning—especially sunrise in the morning. One small disappointment: no capsule or instant coffee available, which is common even in budget hotels. Adding that would make the stay much more convenient for guests who rely on coffee.

This stay completely exceeded my expectations! The room was spacious and flooded with natural light—waking up to the morning sun felt incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. Janice, the staff member who assisted with check-in, was warm, professional, and incredibly efficient—no long queues or delays. Dinner at the fourth-floor riverside restaurant was a highlight: the ambiance was serene and romantic, with breathtaking views of the city lights across the water. The cuisine was authentic Fujian-style, beautifully prepared and full of flavor—every dish stood out. Breakfast was equally impressive, offering a wide variety of options from local favorites to international choices. The entire property felt quiet and well-maintained, creating a perfect retreat for relaxation. Whether it’s for a weekend getaway with friends or a peaceful escape, this hotel delivers comfort, charm, and excellent value. I’ll definitely be back.
