The room was a bit compact, but I managed to lay out two suitcases without any issues—definitely sufficient for my needs. One of the little touches I really appreciated was having slippers provided in the room, plus there was a weight scale on the floor level, which made carrying luggage up and down the stairs so much easier. The front desk staff were all incredibly helpful and spoke excellent Japanese, making communication smooth and stress-free. Their friendly and attentive service really stood out. Overall, the hotel offers a clean, comfortable stay with great value. I’d definitely book here again when I visit Seoul.
Hamory Guesthouse Dongdaemun
Stayed with two friends for two nights and three days — my first time at a hostel, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be way better than I imagined. We arrived around 2 PM, and luckily the owner was there — the front door’s automatic lock was already open, so we walked in easily. At the second-floor reception, there was a sheet on the computer where we wrote our names. After showing the reservation on our phone, we said, ‘This is it!’ — flipping it over revealed the entrance and room codes, plus some helpful notes, all clearly written in Japanese. The room was on the third floor, spacious and spotlessly clean. Hot water pressure in the shower was great, and everything you’d need was provided: desk, TV, AC, mini-fridge, fan, hairdryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and free Wi-Fi. One thing mentioned in reviews about steep stairs? It’s true — carrying a large suitcase up might take a bit more effort, but it’s manageable and not a dealbreaker. What really stood out was the location — right outside, there’s a row of yellow tents selling snacks and souvenirs, and a convenience store just steps away. Honestly, it felt even more convenient than my previous stay at another hotel nearby. The owner’s parents were incredibly kind — when checking out, they lent us a luggage scale so we could adjust our bags inside the room, and even helped carry our suitcases downstairs. That kind of service made a huge difference! Check-out was super simple — just hand back the paper we received upon arrival. Since we arrived during the owner’s presence, the front door was unlocked, but if he’s not around, how would guests access the building? So I’d recommend confirming the procedure ahead of time. Overall, this place exceeded expectations. I’m already planning to come back whenever I visit Dongdaemun again — thanks so much to the whole family!

Just a 1-minute walk from Exit 8 of Dongdaemun History & Cultural Park, this hotel is perfect for shopping and exploring the area. The place was incredibly clean and well-maintained, giving a very welcoming vibe. The bathtub was spacious and so relaxing—perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. I’d definitely stay here again when visiting Seoul. Great value and comfort in one!

The hotel is excellent overall—great location, super convenient for getting around Seoul, and the staff are very friendly. My only confusion was that I booked a two-night stay, but I had to check out on the second day and couldn’t recheck in until after 6 PM. The atmosphere throughout the hostel is warm and welcoming, especially on the 5th floor where breakfast is served with soft background music. The heating system works well during winter, keeping the rooms cozy and comfortable. While there are no disposable toiletries (like toothbrushes), they do provide towels, which is thoughtful. Be aware that there’s no elevator—so if you’re not up for climbing stairs, request a lower-floor room. Noise levels are decent; even though soundproofing isn’t perfect, there’s minimal disturbance at night. One of my favorite moments? Sipping coffee on the 5th floor during a snowfall, listening to music, chatting with friends, and watching the city turn white—it felt like a scene from a movie. The front desk staff speaks excellent English, but service hours are limited to 8 AM–10 PM. For other times, you’ll need to use alternative communication methods. Overall, this place offers great value, friendly vibes, and a unique charm. A solid choice for travelers looking for comfort and convenience in central Seoul.
