Paramount Motel
Staying at Paramount Motel in Kangaroo Point was a great experience for our four-night trip. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the city center and very convenient for exploring Brisbane. With over 20 units across two floors, each room comes with its own private outdoor parking spot, which was a big plus for us. Our unit was quiet, clean, spacious, and well-maintained—perfect for both short and longer stays. The bathroom was impressively large, featuring a shower, sink, toilet, window with a security grill, and even a clothesline. The kitchen was fully equipped with a full-size fridge, small electric stove, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishes, and cutlery. There’s also a kitchen table with chairs, so cooking at home felt effortless. The bed was generous for two adults, and there was an extra single bed we didn’t use—though it doubled as a handy low table. We had a sofa, coffee table, desk with chair, closet, and a large TV (though we never turned it on). Air conditioning worked perfectly throughout our stay. One highlight was the small kitchen window that opened to a view of the street—great for fresh air, especially with the mesh screen and security bars in place. The large window next to the front door stayed closed with curtains drawn for privacy. WiFi was strong and reliable. Check-in was a bit tricky—we arrived to find no staff on-site—but phone support was quick and helpful. The electronic keypad lock initially wouldn’t open; after a call, we were advised to press the buttons more firmly and quickly instead of gently tapping them, which solved the issue. A note near the router warns not to unplug it, as doing so could disable the door lock—so we hope there’s no power outage during future stays! While there’s no room service, long-term guests can request fresh linens. Guests are expected to leave the unit clean upon departure, or risk losing part or all of the $100 deposit. The pool area looked nice but wasn’t accessible—gates were locked with a physical key, though we assume access can be arranged upon request. The neighborhood itself is excellent: a 24-hour IGA with Subway just a 200-meter walk away, a liquor store across the street, and KFC and McDonald’s within a 350-meter radius. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby, and the streets felt safe even at night—lots of people walking around comfortably. Overall, this is a comfortable, well-equipped, and value-packed stay. Highly recommended for travelers who want convenience, space, and a local vibe without the hassle.
