The Marion Hostel
The Marion Hostel is incredibly convenient, located just a short walk from downtown Wellington. There are plenty of parking spots right outside the door, and nearby lots make it easy for those traveling by car. The staff are friendly and helpful, always ready to answer questions—plus they offer currency exchange and access to well-maintained laundry machines. The only downside was our room, which was right next to the staircase entrance. Every time someone opened or closed the door, the noise was extremely loud—so much so that the walls seemed to shake. With poor soundproofing, it was hard to sleep peacefully, especially since people were still coming and going late into the night. If they could install soft-close mechanisms on the stairway door, that would make a huge difference. Despite this, the common areas are clean, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped. Overall, it’s a great value for the price, and I’d definitely stay here again.

No coffee offered in the room, but honestly, there are some amazing cafés literally around the corner—perfect for morning caffeine fixes. Just be aware that the rooms can get a bit noisy at night due to the bars downstairs. If you’re sensitive to sound, consider requesting a quieter room. Overall, this place delivers excellent value, great convenience, and a welcoming vibe—highly recommend for travelers who want to be in the heart of Wellington.
