We had an absolutely wonderful three-day stay at this charming little cottage. The room was cozy and beautifully decorated, with a peaceful vibe that made it perfect for relaxing. The garden is stunning—full of lush greenery and cherry trees, giving the whole place a serene, countryside feel. Breakfast was excellent: fresh, homemade, and full of local flavors—we especially loved the homemade jam and freshly baked bread. Our hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, offering helpful tips about nearby attractions and even arranging a private tour for us. The location is quiet yet convenient, just a short drive from family members we were visiting. We didn’t need to rely on any booking platform—everything was smooth and hassle-free. This place truly stands out for its charm, hospitality, and attention to detail. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic getaway in Johannesburg.
If I could give more than 10 stars, I would have absolutely done it here—this place was truly exceptional! Nestled in a luxurious neighborhood, the area feels safe and peaceful, while the villa itself is beautifully appointed with tasteful decor and stunning artwork throughout. It’s the perfect retreat if you’re looking for tranquility, security, discreet hospitality, indulgent experiences, great food, and just a little movement—all without being far from attractions, thanks to affordable Uber rides. We had the best breakfasts of our entire three-week trip across South Africa (and 11 different stays!), plus memorable lunches and dinners featuring creative, standout dishes and surprisingly affordable wines. On our final day, we treated ourselves to a duo relaxation massage—perfectly arranged and utterly blissful. We stayed in the Cliffside room: spacious, elegant, with a gorgeous bathroom, private terrace, and garden overlooking the cliff. We even climbed up to the top for breathtaking panoramic views—absolutely unforgettable. The main pool area, with its incredibly comfortable loungers, wrapped up the experience perfectly. The staff are incredibly kind and professional, striking the ideal balance between boutique hotel charm and private villa freedom—so you can unwind without feeling isolated or confined. If we ever return to Johannesburg, this will be our first choice without hesitation.
I can't say enough good things about Ten Bompas Hotel. After growing skeptical of the boutique hotel label—often meaning overpromised, overpriced, and underdelivered—I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ten Bompas is the real deal. As one of South Africa’s original boutique properties, it truly lives up to its reputation. The staff throughout the property were exceptional—from front desk to housekeeping. We arrived after a long trip through Namibia with a huge load of laundry, and I was shocked to discover that laundry service was included at no extra cost. Kudos to the housekeeper who handled everything so efficiently—she absolutely earned her tip! Every team member embodies what hospitality should be: warm, thoughtful, and genuine. I especially want to highlight General Manager Sean for his outstanding leadership and personal touch. But honestly, every single person we interacted with made us feel welcome. The food was another highlight—the chicken was hands-down the best I’ve had in South Africa. And yes, the fireplace is wood-burning—a rare and delightful touch these days. If you get the chance to stay here, don’t hesitate. It’s a true gem, and worth every penny.
This is our second visit to Liz at Lancaster Guesthouse, and we were thrilled to stay in the same room as before—everything felt familiar and welcoming. Nestled in the bustling northern suburbs of Johannesburg, this place offers a peaceful retreat from the city’s fast pace. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Our room was immaculately clean throughout our stay, with cozy bedding and thoughtful touches that made all the difference. It’s a great spot for travelers who want a quiet, comfortable base while still being close to everything the city has to offer. We’d definitely come back again—highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxed, well-run guesthouse in a convenient location.
I absolutely loved staying at Claires of Sandton Luxury Guest House—this place truly feels like home. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with a cozy charm that makes you want to stay longer. It’s incredibly convenient, just a short walk from the American Embassy, Mandela Square, and Sandton Mall, making it perfect for both business and leisure travelers. The attention to detail, comfort, and warm hospitality made my trip unforgettable. I’ve stayed here multiple times and will always give it 5 stars. If you’re looking for a serene, well-located, and genuinely comfortable retreat in Johannesburg, this is it.
This place is truly a hidden gem. The location is perfect—quiet and peaceful, yet still within easy walking distance of restaurants, bars, and local shops. I even walked to the Johannesburg Botanical Garden without any hassle. Grocery stores and pharmacies are just a short stroll away, making daily essentials super convenient. Jamie, who runs the property, is incredibly friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful—always ready to assist with tips or recommendations. I stayed here twice, each time in a different cottage, and both were clean, well-maintained, and full of charm. On my second visit, I was upgraded to Cottage 4—the one I affectionately called my 'Princess Tower'—and it was absolutely stunning. Spacious, cozy, and beautifully decorated, it felt like a little retreat all its own. The driver Chris, recommended by Jamie, was also fantastic—he’s reliable, professional, and went out of his way to help me on multiple occasions. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and memorable. This isn’t just a stay—it’s a home-away-from-home with heart.
Absolutely loved my stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to arrange airport pickup—such a helpful touch. Breakfast was delicious, and room service was prompt and well-executed. I’ll definitely book here again if I’m ever back in Johannesburg. 💕❤️ The rooms were clean and comfortable, but it would’ve been nice if basic amenities like robes, slippers, shampoo, and shower gel were provided upon arrival—especially after a long flight. Also, having bottled water available in the room right away would’ve made the experience even better. Overall, the hotel offers great value, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. A real gem in Sandton!
After a long overnight flight, Leighwood Lodge was exactly what we needed — a peaceful retreat in a quiet and safe neighborhood just about 30 minutes from the airport. It’s walkable to several great restaurants, and Rosebank is only a short distance away, making it super convenient for dining and exploring. The rooms are spacious, very quiet, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you’d want for a comfortable stay — even a microwave! Breakfast was excellent, and if you ask ahead, they’ll prepare a delicious homemade dinner for you. The owners and staff are incredibly warm and helpful, going out of their way to make sure we felt welcome before and during our visit. We left feeling refreshed and truly relaxed. Without hesitation, we’ll be coming back next time we’re in Johannesburg.
Staying at Sandton Slippers was an absolute delight! The service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet, and incredibly relaxing, making it the perfect retreat after a busy day exploring Johannesburg. My host went above and beyond to make me feel at home. Breakfast was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, enjoyed while watching birds flitting about in the peaceful garden. It felt like a little slice of nature right in the heart of the city. Location is also fantastic—easy access to downtown via public transit, just a short ride away. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending this gem to anyone visiting Johannesburg.
From the moment I arrived, Gavin and Loui greeted me with genuine warmth—Gavin even helped carry my luggage, which made a great first impression. The room was immaculately clean and thoughtfully prepared, with a beautifully written welcome note that included all the essential info right where I could see it. Everything I needed was already in the room—no need to call for anything. The location is quiet and safe, just a short drive from several excellent restaurants. It’s also super convenient for getting around town, with easy access to public transit. I felt completely at ease throughout my stay. A truly welcoming and well-managed place—highly recommend for anyone visiting Johannesburg.
Burkleigh House is an absolute gem for a relaxing getaway. The garden is beautifully landscaped and offers a peaceful retreat right in the heart of Johannesburg. The hosts, David and his team, went above and beyond—David personally offered to drive us to Mandela Square, waited patiently while we explored, and brought us back safely. Their kindness and attention to detail made our stay truly memorable. This place feels like a hidden sanctuary, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. A perfect blend of comfort, charm, and hospitality.
Staying at The Wesley Boutique Hotel & Spa was an absolute delight. Located just steps from the subway, it’s incredibly convenient for getting around Johannesburg while still offering a peaceful retreat. The check-in experience was warm and welcoming, with attentive staff who made us feel right at home. Cindy’s cooked breakfast was truly outstanding—fresh, delicious, and prepared with care. Every detail, from the cozy rooms to the thoughtful touches around the property, reflects genuine hospitality. It’s perfect for travelers seeking comfort, quiet surroundings, and great value in a central location. I’ll definitely be returning next time I visit South Africa—this place deserves more than one stay.
