The room is slightly low in ceiling height, and the windows are only covered with sheer curtains, so the ocean view is quite limited—definitely not what I expected. That said, the overall experience was exceptional. From the luxurious amenities to the thoughtful touches throughout the property, every detail reflects Hyatt’s high standards. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the rooftop bar offers stunning city views at sunset. Despite the slight disappointment with the room upgrade, I’d still highly recommend this hotel for its charm, comfort, and unbeatable location.

The price-to-quality ratio was outstanding, and it felt like getting luxury without the luxury price tag. While downtown Auckland can be a bit chaotic, the hotel itself offered a strong sense of safety and comfort that really made a difference. From check-in, a staff member immediately helped carry my luggage to the room—so thoughtful! The front desk team was incredibly warm and helpful; when I had a late flight, they kindly allowed me to check out two hours later, even offering advice to use the on-site gym to freshen up before leaving. Cleanliness was excellent overall—especially the fitness center, which was spotless and professionally cleaned every evening around 10 PM. The only downside? On my last day, I found a large cockroach in the tea cabinet. As someone who’s extremely sensitive to bugs, this was genuinely alarming. Definitely recommend improving pest control measures. Despite that minor issue, I’d absolutely choose SO/Auckland again on my next trip to Auckland—this place truly stands out.

The trendy little restaurant Tetop right downstairs—absolutely delicious, consistently good, and perfect for a quick bite without having to leave the building. The room was spotless, with excellent cleanliness throughout, fresh linens, and a comfortable bed that made for a restful night. Everything about this stay felt seamless: location, food, hygiene, and service. I’d definitely book here again next time I’m in Auckland—and I’ll be recommending it to friends.
