Even though the hotel has been open for ten years, everything feels fresh and well-maintained. Breakfast was excellent: a great mix of Western and local flavors, including authentic Sichuan dishes like mapo tofu and kung pao chicken that brought the city’s taste right to my plate. The welcome fruit platter was a nice surprise too, especially the hotel’s own Aoyuan jelly tangerines – juicy, sweet, and fresh. Yet, despite being in the heart of the action, the hotel somehow manages to feel calm and serene – more peaceful than the Waldorf right next door. This stay was truly flawless.
