Everything you need to know about Wulin Square

Hangzhou Marriott Hotel is highly recommended, located just steps from Wu Lin Square with panoramic views of the Wu Lin Square Fountain and surrounding modern skyline. Its high-floor rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows offering unobstructed views of the city’s vibrant night lights, including distant glimpses of West Lake. The hotel also features a rooftop infinity pool and direct access to Longxiangqiao Metro Station (Line 1), providing seamless travel to major attractions like Lingyin Temple and Song City. For a more cultural experience, consider Huanglong Hotel, nestled near West Lake Cultural Plaza, blending traditional Jiangnan garden design with luxury accommodations. Both hotels offer complimentary shuttle services to key tourist sites, making them ideal for travelers seeking comfort and convenience in Hangzhou’s urban heart.

The most convenient way to reach West Lake from Wu Lin Square is by taking Metro Line 1 to Hupin Station, just a 8-minute ride away. From there, it’s a 5-minute walk to Duanqiao Bridge. For a scenic alternative, stroll westward along Yan’an Road—about 1.2 km—passing through Southern Song Imperial Street and Hefang Street, where you’ll encounter centuries-old architecture and local vendors. You can also rent an e-bike or shared bicycle, covering the route in approximately 15 minutes while enjoying greenways and views of the Qiantang River. Multiple bus lines (e.g., Bus 7, 31) stop near Wu Lin Square, connecting directly to scenic spots like Su Causeway and Leifeng Pagoda, offering flexible and efficient transit options.

Near Wu Lin Square, don’t miss Zhìwèi Guān, a century-old restaurant famous for its Pian’erchuan (a noodle dish with pork and bamboo shoots) and Māo'ěr Tóu (small dumplings). Another top choice is Wàipójiā, known for authentic Hangzhou cuisine—especially their rich, slow-cooked Dongpo Pork and tangy Xīhú Cùyú (Sour Plum Fish). For a vibrant street food experience, head to the underground food court at Hulin Silverland in77, where you can enjoy freshly fried oil tofu, Guìhuā Gāo (osmanthus cake), and Dragon Well Shrimp Bao. For a refined meal, visit Xīn Bái Lù Restaurant, which pairs classic dishes with Longjing tea, offering a true taste of Hangzhou’s culinary heritage and tea culture.

Wu Lin Square hosts a variety of engaging cultural events every weekend, including outdoor concerts featuring local bands performing classical and contemporary music on the central stage. During holidays like Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, the square transforms into a hub for light installations and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, showcasing traditional crafts like paper cutting and silk weaving. The nearby Wu Lin Academy regularly organizes poetry recitals and tea ceremony workshops, immersing visitors in Hangzhou’s literary and artistic legacy. In summer, open-air movie screenings are held under the stars, projecting classic Chinese films enhanced by ambient lighting and soundscapes. These events not only enrich tourism but also highlight Hangzhou’s identity as a cultural capital.

Near Wu Lin Square, Hangzhou Intime Park offers a premium shopping experience with international brands, lifestyle stores, and flagship outlets like Starbucks Reserve and MUJI. Another top spot is Hulin Silverland in77, divided into three zones (A, B, C), housing global fashion chains such as H&M, ZARA, and Lululemon, plus a family-friendly interactive play zone and rooftop garden café. For authentic souvenirs, explore Hefang Street, where you can find Zhang Xiaquan Scissors, Hu Qingyu Tang Pharmacy, and Hangzhou Embroidery Workshops, perfect for purchasing silk scarves, Longjing tea gift sets, and handcrafted trinkets. Additionally, Hangzhou Lai Fu Shi Plaza features high-end boutiques and art spaces, ideal for couples and families seeking upscale retail experiences.

Wu Lin Square’s night scene is renowned for its dynamic lighting displays and urban energy. The central fountain features a synchronized LED light show that runs daily from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, choreographed to music and shifting colors. Surrounding buildings are adorned with smart LED facades that display rotating visuals of Hangzhou’s cultural identity and seasonal themes. At night, the skyline blends the illuminated West Lake horizon with the futuristic glow of skyscrapers across the Qiantang River, creating a breathtaking urban vista. Nearby malls like Intime Park and in77 sparkle with neon signage, drawing crowds and lively pedestrian flow. It’s best to arrive around 6 PM to enjoy a quiet moment on the plaza benches before strolling along Yan’an Road to Hulin Walkway, experiencing the seamless transition from daytime city life to a dazzling nighttime spectacle.

Pins De La Brume Hotel

Staying at Pins De La Brume Hotel in Hangzhou was an absolute delight. The moment I stepped into the courtyard, I was greeted by a peaceful serenity that instantly relaxed me. The room was immaculately clean and offered a stunning view of the distant mountain-top temple — serene and picturesque. The underfloor heating kept the room perfectly warm without being too hot, and the air purification system ran quietly, so it never disturbed my rest. Staff at the front desk and my personal concierge were incredibly attentive and thoughtful — they made sure every need was met with genuine care. During New Year’s holiday, when ride-sharing and buses were restricted near the scenic area, the hotel arranged a shuttle to drop us off right at the entrance, which was incredibly convenient. Everything was seamless and well-organized. This place isn’t just comfortable — it’s truly special. A perfect blend of tranquility, luxury, and exceptional service. I’ll definitely be returning.

Sunday Sunny Resort

This was hands down the best booking of our trip—booked early before prices went up, and the value for money was outstanding. Nestled on San Tai Mountain, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat with fresh air and stunning natural surroundings. The nearest bus stop is at Yu Qian Temple, but we actually preferred walking to Wugui Tan to try the rowboat ride—unfortunately, it was canceled due to weather, but we made up for it by taking a scenic water bus from Guo Zhuang Pier to Hua Gang Guan Yu. The views along the way were absolutely beautiful. After exploring Hua Gang Guan Yu, we returned via the Xiao Lian Qing Feng line from Su Di Pier, which dropped us right at Yu Qian Temple Station—perfect for heading back to the hotel. One small downside: limited food delivery options nearby, but overall, the experience was flawless. This place truly delivers comfort, convenience, and charm.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! Located on the 26th floor of Qianjiang Times Plaza, it's incredibly convenient—just a short walk from the metro and downtown attractions. Upon check-in, the front desk staff was so welcoming they upgraded me to a Premium Deluxe King room at no extra cost—huge space, very comfortable, and the best part? It comes with a washer and dryer right in the room. Even better, the complimentary toiletries include laundry detergent—such a thoughtful touch! Breakfast is served at a restaurant in the underground food plaza, where you get vouchers to pick your own dishes. There’s a wide variety of options, and everything is delicious. You can enjoy a full meal for under $20—truly great value. I’ll definitely be back!

Atour X Hotel Ding'an Road Yintai West Lake Hangzhou

Staying at Atour X Hotel Ding'an Road Yintai West Lake Hangzhou was an absolute delight! The room was immaculately clean and fresh, immediately making me feel at home. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and attentive—always ready to help with anything I needed. Location-wise, it’s perfect: just a short walk to West Lake, Hefang Street, and all the local hotspots. What truly stood out? Returning late at night to find a warm bowl of congee and some light snacks waiting for me. In the middle of winter, that simple gesture brought such a cozy, heartwarming feeling. The hotel also has a full laundry service with both washing and drying machines—plus, they’ll even collect your clothes when you’re out, which is seriously thoughtful. The only tiny hiccup? The TV wouldn’t turn on, and the remote seemed unresponsive. But if you don’t rely on TV, it’s not a dealbreaker—just ask the front desk for help. Overall, this place offers incredible value, comfort, and genuine hospitality. I’d happily come back in a heartbeat.

Veegle By Landison Hotel Hangzhou Qianjiang New City

This was my first stay at this hotel, and I have to say, it exceeded all my expectations! Located just steps away from Qianjiang New City Metro Station, it’s incredibly convenient for both business and leisure travelers. I came here specifically for a work meeting, and the Wi-Fi performance was outstanding—fast, stable, and perfect for video calls without any lag. The front desk manager even personally walked me to my room to test the connection, which showed how genuinely attentive they are. They also mentioned an upcoming network upgrade, but even before that, the speed was already impressive. Bonus: my room was upgraded for free—a nice surprise! Staff were friendly, helpful, and proactive throughout my entire stay. One minor note: parking is limited and not included unless you're staying overnight. Since I didn’t stay the night, I didn’t pay, but friends who rented cars and stayed overnight had to cover the cost. Still, this doesn’t take away from the overall excellent experience. For great value, top-notch service, and reliable connectivity, I’d definitely recommend this hotel—and I’ll be back.
