We've visited Gulangyu several times before, but this was our first time staying on the island—and what a difference it made! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming; they even offered us fresh fruit and candies upon arrival—such a sweet touch. I absolutely fell in love with this little courtyard! As soon as I walked in, a few adorable cats came running out—so affectionate and playful, one even popped up during check-in asking for snacks. So cute I couldn’t help but smile the whole time. My room was 301 at the end of the hall, and now I understand why it’s called the 'Morning Light Room'—the entire wall by the bed is a huge window that floods the space with soft sunlight each morning. Waking up to that view, and getting ready right there with natural light pouring in? Pure bliss. The scenery outside is stunning too—perfect for those quiet, peaceful moments. I didn’t take many photos of the facilities myself, but the vibe here is genuinely special. Oh, and if you’re visiting Gulangyu, don’t miss the pipe organ concert—especially the performance of the Interstellar soundtrack. The sound is so powerful and emotional, it actually gave me chills. Arriving from Santiang Ferry, it's just a 10-minute walk to Lilac Garden Hotel through the famous scenic corner filled with lively atmosphere. The charming old-style villa stands out with its elegant design and quiet surroundings—no noisy neighbors, just peaceful vibes. Rooms are spotless and well-maintained, and the owner and housekeeper go above and beyond with warm, personal service. Breakfast was a highlight—authentic local vermicelli soup that tasted rich and comforting, truly memorable. I came across the nearby bar owner’s social media post and heard there’s a real story behind this place, which made me even more intrigued. Unfortunately, our stay was too short to dive deep into its history. Still, we left feeling completely happy as a family. Definitely coming back soon to uncover more tales.

Staying at Yuezhiyun Hostel on Gulangyu Island was an absolute delight.
