I always visit Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou around the end of the year, and I’ve been staying at Shusheng Longjing Hotel for years—it’s become my go-to choice. The location is perfect: just a 10-minute bike ride to West Lake and only 8–10 minutes to Lingyin Temple, making it super convenient for exploring the area on two wheels. The surrounding trails and quiet streets make cycling or walking the best way to get around. The staff went above and beyond—before check-in, they reached out to help with transport tips and followed up afterward to see how we were enjoying our stay. Having a 24/7 concierge was a huge plus. And the breakfast? Fantastic. Since the hotel runs its own Chinese restaurant, the food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. It’s not just a place to sleep—it feels like a home base for a peaceful, well-organized trip. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality.

The rooms are wonderfully quiet, with excellent soundproofing that makes it easy to relax and sleep peacefully. The bedding is incredibly comfortable, and the room layout feels thoughtful and spacious. I especially loved the large, bright bathroom with modern amenities and the beautiful wooden flooring that adds warmth and character to the space. Breakfast was a highlight—diverse and fresh, offering both Western and Chinese options, all prepared right in front of you. It’s rare to find such quality and variety in a boutique hotel. Highly recommended for travelers seeking comfort, location, and a touch of elegance.

West Lake State Guesthouse

Staying at West Lake State Guesthouse was an absolute delight. The facilities exceeded my expectations—spacious, elegant, and thoughtfully designed with attention to detail. The room was immaculately clean, and every corner felt fresh and well-maintained. What truly stood out was the location: just a short walk from West Lake, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing. Getting to Feilai Feng was also quick and easy by car or public transport. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful—always smiling, ready to assist, and going the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Dining at Zhiwei Hall was another highlight. The food was excellent, with authentic flavors and beautiful presentation. While some dishes were on the pricier side, considering the quality, setting, and service, it felt justified. My family especially loved the taste of the signature dishes and kept raving about them afterward. Overall, this was a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and hospitality. A top-tier experience with outstanding value. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Hangzhou.

The Nook Hotel Hangzhou - A design hotel, 20 mins to West Lake and Lingyin Temple

Staying at The Nook Hotel Hangzhou felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat with a minimalist, Muji-inspired vibe. The upgraded room was absolutely dreamy—my favorite part was soaking in the bathtub while gazing out at the serene mountain view through the floor-to-ceiling glass. Natural light floods in, and the open-air balcony with lush greenery outside made every moment feel calming and refreshing. Getting there was easy—just a short walk from the metro station, following clear signs up a few steps and along a tree-lined path flanked by towering gingko and sycamore trees. You’ll spot the hotel right at the corner of a quiet street. It’s just one stop from Tianmu Li, which is perfect for a full day of exploring: art exhibitions, shopping, great cafes, and Instagram-worthy architecture and nature shots. A few stops further, you can visit Zhejiang University, wetlands, or botanical gardens—all within easy reach. And if you want to head into downtown, it’s only six stops away. Super convenient! The staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast spread was generous and delicious. Definitely worth waking up early for!

From the moment we stepped through the door, the stunning Song Dynasty-inspired entrance captivated our attention—perfectly reflecting Hangzhou’s rich cultural heritage as the former Southern Song capital. The location is unbeatable: just a short walk to a shopping mall, and only 300 meters from Line 10 of the metro, making city exploration effortless. The brochure at the front desk was well-organized and easy to follow, and the friendly staff even pointed out that the hotel is nestled right beside the ancient canal—a lovely touch. Everything about this stay felt thoughtfully designed, from the ambiance to the service. With such great value and a prime spot in a historic district, I’ll definitely be coming back. Nearby attractions like Yue Wang Temple and Gushan Island are easily accessible, making it ideal for exploring the area. The service here is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and professional. I appreciated the complimentary parking, though I did note the local odd-even license plate restrictions, so plan accordingly if driving. Rooms are immaculate, spotless, and beautifully designed with modern comforts. It’s worth mentioning that this property was formerly known as Hangzhou Hotel, a historic landmark on Beishan Road, now revitalized under the Shangri-La brand—a perfect blend of heritage and world-class hospitality. With great value for money and such a prime location, this is one of the best stays in Hangzhou I’ve experienced.

Hangzhou The New Hotel

Staying at this historic Hangzhou The New Hotel was an absolute delight. I booked the Dongzhuang Celebrity Room—"Felicity in Florence," named after Xu Zhimo—and it didn’t disappoint. The private balcony overlooks West Lake, offering breathtaking views, and the room’s design is rich with character and charm. The only minor downside? Not enough power outlets, but that’s a small trade-off for such a memorable stay. Staff across front desk and restaurant were incredibly attentive and helpful—always ready to assist with a smile. Breakfast was simple but spot-on: everything made in-house, from perfectly seared steaks to delicate wontons, juicy dumplings, and fresh salmon. It felt like a home-cooked meal with a luxury touch. For lunch, we dined at 1913 Restaurant—the signature West Lake Fish in Vinegar Sauce was outstanding, balanced and authentic. Our photographer from Xiao Wan Photography, Xiao Guo, was professional and passionate; my sister loved every single shot of her in traditional cheongsam. And then there’s Chen Bo, a true local with deep knowledge of Hangzhou’s history—he brought stories to life with warmth and humor. Despite its compact size, the hotel is full of hidden gems: every corner feels like a page from history, perfect for photos and quiet exploration. This staycation was pure bliss. I’d absolutely come back—not just for the location or views, but for the soul of the place. Next time, I’m trying another room in the Dongzhuang wing.

Staff at the front desk and my personal concierge were incredibly attentive and thoughtful — they made sure every need was met with genuine care. During New Year’s holiday, when ride-sharing and buses were restricted near the scenic area, the hotel arranged a shuttle to drop us off right at the entrance, which was incredibly convenient. Everything was seamless and well-organized. This place isn’t just comfortable — it’s truly special. A perfect blend of tranquility, luxury, and exceptional service. I’ll definitely be returning.

Sinew Hotel (Hangzhou Huanglong)

We stayed at Sinew Hotel (Hangzhou Huanglong) during our trip to Hangzhou with friends, and it turned out to be one of the most unexpectedly great finds! The location is perfect—just a short walk from Zhejiang University, where we even used Alipay to try the student cafeteria. It was such a unique and authentic local experience. Plus, it's super convenient for visiting major attractions like West Lake and Hu Bin area—everything is within easy reach whether by foot or public transit. The hotel itself is clean, well-maintained, and staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely a hidden gem in the heart of Hangzhou. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and a real taste of the city.
