Plus, getting to other nearby attractions like Yongfu Temple, Fajing Temple, and Hupao Park is super convenient—just a quick ride or a short walk. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always smiling and ready to help with anything. Breakfast is available all day, which is perfect for travelers who don’t want to stick to a rigid schedule. The room was quiet, cozy, and spotlessly clean with lightweight yet warm bedding that made it feel like home. The hostess even turned on the AC before I arrived—such thoughtful touches really stood out. On day one, I followed a scenic route from Cai Shen Temple down through Chongguang Temple, Yongfu Temple, all the way to Lingyin Temple without backtracking. I managed to catch the evening chanting ceremony, counted the arhats, and felt truly blessed by the serenity of it all. Day two started with a trip to Fajixi Temple, which is a bit farther away. The host kindly drove me there and later picked me up—no hassle at all. On the return, I took a local electric shuttle or walked through the Three Zhen temples, each step filled with history and beauty: from the Kangxi inscription at Sanmo Temple to the old pavilion where Li Shutong once meditated. I stopped by Fajing Temple to pick up some traditional mooncakes—locals swear by them. Then wandered through Fajing Temple’s sacred grounds and stood by the famous Sanyi Stone, pondering what “non-dual path” truly means. Back at Lingyin Temple’s Feilai Entrance, the highlight of the journey was eating at Pumeng Vegetarian Restaurant. It required a short wait, but every bite was worth it—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Afterward, a quick 2-minute walk brought me back to the inn, where I relaxed with a cup of Jiuxiao Hongmei tea, played with the adorable cat in the courtyard, and admired the view of the first Cai Shen Temple. Two days flew by in peace and joy—this stay wasn’t just comfortable, it was deeply meaningful. I’ll definitely be back.

Still, I decided to give it a try and called the reservations team. I was connected with Miss Shao Linyang, who was incredibly helpful. Even though we couldn’t secure an additional room, she followed up promptly and made sure every step was communicated clearly. To my surprise, she upgraded my room and even left fresh fruit upon arrival. When I mentioned I’d be traveling with a child, she proactively arranged kid-friendly amenities, and the room came equipped with a mini-bar—thoughtful touches that really stood out. As a long-standing five-star property, the service level is consistently excellent. The location is unbeatable—right next to Wulin Night Market, and just a 10-minute walk to West Lake. On days when traffic restrictions made taxis hard to find, walking became the easiest option. Breakfast was generous in both variety and quality. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations. The East Hotel

Staying at The East Hotel in Hangzhou was a fantastic experience overall. The location is very convenient—there are plenty of dining options right on the ground floor, and the subway station is just a short walk away, making it easy to explore the city. The suite was spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully designed with a unique theme that added character to the stay. The lobby itself is impressively large and stylish, with a modern aesthetic that sets the tone for the entire hotel. One standout feature is the self-service electric scooter rental kiosk at the entrance—perfect for travelers who want flexibility and freedom when getting around. I also want to give a special mention to Amy, who went above and beyond with her warm and attentive service—friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. The value for money is excellent; you get a high-quality stay without breaking the bank. Definitely a place I’d recommend and return to.

The Nook Hotel Hangzhou - A design hotel, 20 mins to West Lake and Lingyin Temple

Staying at The Nook Hotel Hangzhou felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat with a minimalist, Muji-inspired vibe. The upgraded room was absolutely dreamy—my favorite part was soaking in the bathtub while gazing out at the serene mountain view through the floor-to-ceiling glass. Natural light floods in, and the open-air balcony with lush greenery outside made every moment feel calming and refreshing. Getting there was easy—just a short walk from the metro station, following clear signs up a few steps and along a tree-lined path flanked by towering gingko and sycamore trees. You’ll spot the hotel right at the corner of a quiet street. It’s just one stop from Tianmu Li, which is perfect for a full day of exploring: art exhibitions, shopping, great cafes, and Instagram-worthy architecture and nature shots. A few stops further, you can visit Zhejiang University, wetlands, or botanical gardens—all within easy reach. And if you want to head into downtown, it’s only six stops away. Super convenient! The staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast spread was generous and delicious. Definitely worth waking up early for!
