West Lake Roxanne

Staying at West Lake Roxanne felt like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Hangzhou’s most serene corners. Nestled right across from Yuhu Bay—a quiet, lesser-known spot that feels like a secret escape—the property offers effortless access to iconic sights like Prince's Bay, Su Causeway, and Flower Harbor View, all just a short walk away. The vibe is peaceful, with the gentle embrace of San Tai Mountain nearby, making it feel like nature’s own retreat. With only 15 rooms, each one thoughtfully designed with unique character—my favorite was the starlit room with its skylight, where I spent an evening lounging in the bathtub, counting stars with my kids under a clear sky. Inside, top-tier air purifiers and eco-friendly toiletries add a layer of comfort and wellness. The ground floor has a cozy reading nook where I sipped coffee and lost myself in a novel. But the real highlight? The outdoor infinity pool with constant temperature—perfect for unwinding with friends, soaking in warm water while sipping wine as dusk settles over the lake. The staff are genuinely attentive, offering personalized breakfasts and thoughtful suggestions for off-the-beaten-path hikes like the route to Yunqi Bamboo Path or Jiu Xi. It’s rare to find such intimacy and quality in a boutique stay—especially when you’re so close to nature yet still within reach of city charm. If you’re after a peaceful, stylish, and truly memorable base to explore the quieter side of West Lake, this place is unforgettable. Just book early—it fills up fast, especially for those special rooms.

Manshe Homestay (Xihu Jiuxi Branch)

This stay was absolutely fantastic—highly recommend! The host, Miao Miao, went above and beyond by personally meeting us at the street corner, making us feel instantly welcome. The room features a modern Chinese design aesthetic—elegant, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. It felt so cozy and homely, like we were staying in a friend’s private retreat rather than a hotel. Everything was spotless, and the attention to detail made us feel truly at ease. Miao Miao’s warm hospitality stood out—she was attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. This experience exceeded expectations, and I’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone visiting Hangzhou. A real gem!

DOMO Villa

This is my third stay at DOMO Villa, and I’ve been completely in love since the first visit. This time I stayed on the second floor—still with that perfect view of my favorite tree right outside the window. The service was as excellent as always: they reached out beforehand to help with vehicle access permits, and once checked in, the host sent over a detailed guide to nearby dining, shopping, and sightseeing spots. Any questions or requests were answered promptly and handled with care. The bed was incredibly comfortable—I slept like a baby. Plus, being just a short walk from Siyanjing and Manjuelong makes exploring so convenient. The peaceful mountain setting combined with thoughtful hospitality makes this place truly special. Definitely coming back again.

Xiaoshan You Guesthouse(West Lake Manjuelong)

This stay was by far my favorite part of the trip! The cleanliness was outstanding—every corner felt fresh and well-maintained. My driver mentioned this area is actually one of the most fragrant spots in Hangzhou during autumn, thanks to the abundant osmanthus blossoms filling the air with a sweet, natural scent. I was lucky enough to catch a rare local intangible cultural heritage market that only happens seasonally—small stalls showcasing traditional crafts right outside the guesthouse. It added such a charming, authentic touch to the experience. Plus, being just steps away from a private hot spring bathhouse made for some perfect relaxation after a long day. And getting to West Lake or Lingyin Temple? Super easy—just a quick ride away. This place truly delivers on comfort, convenience, and charm. Without hesitation, I’d book again. A must-visit if you're in Hangzhou.

I was a little nervous at first, worried the actual place might not match the photos online, but it truly is 'exactly as shown'—the cleanliness, amenities, and surrounding environment are all top-notch. The whole vibe feels elegant and peaceful, making it a perfect retreat. There are plenty of dining options nearby, from breakfast spots to great lunch and dinner restaurants. The coffee shop across the street has an amazing aesthetic and serves excellent coffee—perfect for a morning pick-me-up. It's also incredibly convenient for exploring attractions: just a short walk to Taiziwan Park, and other key sites are easily reachable by bus or taxi. With its unbeatable location, serene atmosphere, and thoughtful touches throughout, this is definitely a place I’d return to again and again.

Staying at Hangzhou Heyuxuan Homestay was an absolute delight. Nestled right within the West Lake Scenic Area, getting around was incredibly convenient—whether walking or hopping on public transit, everything was just a short stroll away. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene, making it feel like a quiet retreat from the bustling city. The owner and his wife are so gentle and kind—their soft-spoken manner feels genuinely warm, like visiting an old friend. On a drizzly evening, when we stepped out for a walk, the owner kindly ran out to hand us some hand warmers. Just before departure, the hostess surprised us with a little bag of osmanthus tea—small gestures that made me feel truly cared for in this unfamiliar city. The ground-floor lounge is perfect for sipping coffee, enjoying tea, or simply relaxing with friends—there’s a lovely, cozy, slightly vintage vibe. They even offer traditional cheongsams and formal robes for guests to wear, which instantly transported us back to a romanticized era of old China. Hangzhou Shusheng Longjing Hotel

I always visit Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou around the end of the year, and I’ve been staying at Shusheng Longjing Hotel for years—it’s become my go-to choice. The location is perfect: just a 10-minute bike ride to West Lake and only 8–10 minutes to Lingyin Temple, making it super convenient for exploring the area on two wheels. The staff went above and beyond—before check-in, they reached out to help with transport tips and followed up afterward to see how we were enjoying our stay. Having a 24/7 concierge was a huge plus. And the breakfast? Fantastic. Since the hotel runs its own Chinese restaurant, the food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Hangzhou Hua Jia Shan Resort

We were incredibly lucky during the New Year holiday when the hotel upgraded our room at no extra cost—what a wonderful surprise! The accommodation was cozy and comfortable, even though the balcony felt a bit chilly. However, the view and overall atmosphere made it well worth it. The resort’s architecture is truly unique—each balcony feels like it’s nestled in a loft with a striking sloped design. Surrounded by serene mountain scenery, the property beautifully blends traditional elements: pavilions, bridges, and flowing waterways create a peaceful, almost dreamlike setting. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner on-site, and every meal was satisfying and delicious. It’s rare to find such charm, tranquility, and excellent service all in one place. A perfect getaway that exceeded all expectations.

Zhejiang Xizi Hotel · Wangzhuang · West Lake Famous Garden

I’ve long admired Wangzhuang, the iconic lakeside retreat near West Lake in Hangzhou, and finally had the chance to stay here during a Black Friday deal that felt like a steal. The moment I stepped in, I could tell this was something special—excellent service, top-notch dining, and an atmosphere that truly feels luxurious. The property is vast, with beautifully maintained lawns and trees. Since we visited right at peak season for maple and ginkgo foliage, the grounds were gently dusted with golden leaves, creating a magical, almost cinematic setting. Paths are clean and well-kept, making it easy to wander around for hours just taking photos and soaking in the scenery. We booked the daily 10 AM 'Wangzhuang Cruise' tour, which circles West Lake in about an hour. The boat itself is spotless, with comfortable upholstered seats, air-conditioned enclosed cabins, and panoramic glass windows that offer stunning views of both sides of the lake. I especially loved standing at the back deck to capture sweeping shots of the water and gardens—absolutely breathtaking. The highlight of the stay was the complimentary photography package. While one of the staff members from Hainan came across as rather abrupt and inflexible, the photographer, Mr. Song, and the makeup artist were incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. Their work brought out the best in our photos, and the final results were truly memorable. Overall, despite a minor hiccup, the experience exceeded expectations—this place deserves every bit of its reputation.
