Breakfast is a real highlight: a great mix of Chinese and Western options, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. I especially loved the homemade buns—so good they’re worth coming back for. The soundproofing in the rooms is outstanding; once the door closes, you’re completely cut off from outside noise, making it incredibly peaceful to rest. I finally made it to Chengdu for an overnight stay—something I’d wanted to do ever since my previous visits in 2005 and 2018, when I only passed through without stopping. This time, during my extended trip from October 2nd to 13th, I was determined to spend at least one night here. My main goal? To visit the tomb of Guan Yu (Guan Yunchang), famously mentioned in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, located supposedly in eastern Chengdu. After arriving at Chengdu South Railway Station, I took a taxi straight there—but unfortunately, the site was closed due to major construction work. Still, I managed to take some photos from outside before heading to my hotel. The Atour Hotel at Chengdu East Railway Station turned out to be a delightful surprise. Located right near the train station, it’s incredibly convenient for getting around the city—just a short subway ride into downtown. The hotel itself is spotless, modern, and part of a fresh concept with thoughtful touches like a mini-fridge in the room. Staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Dinner featured a rich, comforting soup that stood out, and breakfast was excellent—plenty of choices, high quality. What truly added charm was the little tea house next door; I spent a relaxed evening sipping tea and chatting with locals, exchanging stories and laughs. Even the puzzle game by the elevator added a fun, unexpected moment while waiting. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines comfort, service, and personality so well. What really stood out was their attention to detail: they proactively asked if I preferred a non-smoking floor, which made a huge difference for someone sensitive to odors. Millennium Hotel Chengdu

Staying at Millennium Hotel Chengdu (South Station Branch) was a great experience overall. The room I booked was a scenic view room with plenty of space, and the view across the street to Xianshentree Park was absolutely stunning—perfect for morning light or evening city views. However, the windows were completely non-operable, which made ventilation an issue. I understand safety concerns due to the high floor level, but allowing a small opening would be much more practical than having no airflow at all. The staff were excellent—especially the concierge who helped me collect my package, saving me a lot of time. For food delivery, unfortunately, you have to go downstairs yourself to pick it up; a robot delivery service would be a nice upgrade. The laundry room only has one dryer, which became a major bottleneck during peak holiday periods—adding another unit would make a big difference. On the hygiene side, there’s room for improvement: no trash bags in any of the bins, making them uncomfortable to use, and there were stubborn stains on the bathroom floor that weren’t visible until I moved the carpet accidentally. Despite these minor issues, the hotel met my expectations. Great location, good value, and I’d definitely choose this place again when visiting Chengdu.
