Staying here for two days was absolutely perfect. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the Cai Shen Temple cable car entrance, so no need to worry about parking near Lingyin Temple. The room was quiet, cozy, and spotlessly clean with lightweight yet warm bedding that made it feel like home. The hostess even turned on the AC before I arrived—such thoughtful touches really stood out. On day one, I followed a scenic route from Cai Shen Temple down through Chongguang Temple, Yongfu Temple, all the way to Lingyin Temple without backtracking. I managed to catch the evening chanting ceremony, counted the arhats, and felt truly blessed by the serenity of it all. Day two started with a trip to Fajixi Temple, which is a bit farther away. The host kindly drove me there and later picked me up—no hassle at all. On the return, I took a local electric shuttle or walked through the Three Zhen temples, each step filled with history and beauty: from the Kangxi inscription at Sanmo Temple to the old pavilion where Li Shutong once meditated. I stopped by Fajing Temple to pick up some traditional mooncakes—locals swear by them. Then wandered through Fajing Temple’s sacred grounds and stood by the famous Sanyi Stone, pondering what “non-dual path” truly means. Back at Lingyin Temple’s Feilai Entrance, the highlight of the journey was eating at Pumeng Vegetarian Restaurant. It required a short wait, but every bite was worth it—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Afterward, a quick 2-minute walk brought me back to the inn, where I relaxed with a cup of Jiuxiao Hongmei tea, played with the adorable cat in the courtyard, and admired the view of the first Cai Shen Temple. Two days flew by in peace and joy—this stay wasn’t just comfortable, it was deeply meaningful. I’ll definitely be back.

From the moment we arrived, he added us on WeChat, sent over a detailed service guide, and even came to the room to personally explain how everything worked. Any questions were answered promptly, making communication seamless. He also offered guided tour tips for nearby attractions, though we didn’t use them, it was great to know they were available for guests who’d like some insider insight. Both check-in and check-out included personalized travel recommendations tailored to our interests. His genuine hospitality made us feel welcome and informed. Getting there was easy—just a short walk from the metro station, following clear signs up a few steps and along a tree-lined path flanked by towering gingko and sycamore trees. You’ll spot the hotel right at the corner of a quiet street. It’s just one stop from Tianmu Li, which is perfect for a full day of exploring: art exhibitions, shopping, great cafes, and Instagram-worthy architecture and nature shots. A few stops further, you can visit Zhejiang University, wetlands, or botanical gardens—all within easy reach. And if you want to head into downtown, it’s only six stops away. Super convenient! From the moment we stepped through the door, the stunning Song Dynasty-inspired entrance captivated our attention—perfectly reflecting Hangzhou’s rich cultural heritage as the former Southern Song capital. The location is unbeatable: just a short walk to a shopping mall, and only 300 meters from Line 10 of the metro, making city exploration effortless. The brochure at the front desk was well-organized and easy to follow, and the friendly staff even pointed out that the hotel is nestled right beside the ancient canal—a lovely touch. Everything about this stay felt thoughtfully designed, from the ambiance to the service. With such great value and a prime spot in a historic district, I’ll definitely be coming back. Staying at Shangri-La Hangzhou was an absolute delight from start to finish. The hotel exudes luxury and elegance, perfectly positioned right by West Lake—just a short walk to the water’s edge where you can enjoy peaceful strolls or take a boat ride whenever you feel like it. Nearby attractions like Yue Wang Temple and Gushan Island are easily accessible, making it ideal for exploring the area. The service here is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and professional. I appreciated the complimentary parking, though I did note the local odd-even license plate restrictions, so plan accordingly if driving. Rooms are immaculate, spotless, and beautifully designed with modern comforts. It’s worth mentioning that this property was formerly known as Hangzhou Hotel, a historic landmark on Beishan Road, now revitalized under the Shangri-La brand—a perfect blend of heritage and world-class hospitality. With great value for money and such a prime location, this is one of the best stays in Hangzhou I’ve experienced.
