I finally made it to Chengdu for an overnight stay—something I’d wanted to do ever since my previous visits in 2005 and 2018, when I only passed through without stopping. This time, during my extended trip from October 2nd to 13th, I was determined to spend at least one night here. My main goal? To visit the tomb of Guan Yu (Guan Yunchang), famously mentioned in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, located supposedly in eastern Chengdu. After arriving at Chengdu South Railway Station, I took a taxi straight there—but unfortunately, the site was closed due to major construction work. Still, I managed to take some photos from outside before heading to my hotel. The Atour Hotel at Chengdu East Railway Station turned out to be a delightful surprise. Located right near the train station, it’s incredibly convenient for getting around the city—just a short subway ride into downtown. The hotel itself is spotless, modern, and part of a fresh concept with thoughtful touches like a mini-fridge in the room. Staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Dinner featured a rich, comforting soup that stood out, and breakfast was excellent—plenty of choices, high quality. Located right in the heart of Chengdu at Ke Hua North Road 69, it’s just an 800-meter walk to Line 8 metro station—super convenient for getting around the city. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was immersed in a beautifully crafted Han-Tang dynasty atmosphere. The staff are not only professional but also genuinely warm and welcoming—the concierge, Chen Wei, stood out with his friendly demeanor and tall, approachable presence. He even handed me a traditional folding fan as a thoughtful gesture, which added such a poetic touch to the experience. What really stood out was their attention to detail: they proactively asked if I preferred a non-smoking floor, which made a huge difference for someone sensitive to odors. The location is unbeatable—right next to Sichuan University, with a lively hot pot restaurant just across the street. And yes, the live performances featuring stunningly dressed NPC actors throughout the lobby are absolutely worth experiencing—there’s real energy and cultural immersion here. Whether you’re looking for comfort, authenticity, or a unique stay that feels like stepping into history, this hotel delivers on every level. A truly memorable and human-centered stay.

Staying at Kempinski Hotel Chengdu was an absolute delight from start to finish. The suite offered a smart layout with clear separation between wet and dry areas, making it both functional and spacious. Everything was immaculately clean—no detail was overlooked. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, especially those at the Executive Lounge who made us feel truly welcomed. Their hospitality stood out throughout our stay. The location is fantastic—just steps away from the metro, which made exploring the city so convenient. Breakfast was exceptional, with a wide variety of options, but my favorite was the freshly squeezed carrot juice—it had a subtle hint of ginger that added a refreshing twist. During New Year’s celebration, the special dinner offerings were outstanding: the grilled fish and German-style crispy pork shoulder were both delicious and well-prepared. The pool area was spotless, and the hot spring pool maintained a perfect temperature—ideal for relaxing after a long day. Even the handmade wontons were fresh and flavorful. Overall, every aspect of dining, service, and comfort exceeded expectations. This hotel truly delivers a premium experience.

It’s been a while since my last business trip to Chengdu, and this two-day stay turned out to be a delightful surprise. I was originally planning to book at the Waldorf, but then discovered this Marriott – trusting the brand and following a friend’s recommendation, I decided to give it a try. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier. The room itself was outstanding – the bedding was perfect: the mattress had just the right firmness, and the down comforter was light yet cozy, ensuring a truly restful night’s sleep. Everything was spotless – immaculate cleanliness from top to bottom. Upon returning, I even found a lovely turn-down service waiting for me, which added such a warm, personal touch. The welcome fruit platter was a nice surprise too, especially the hotel’s own Aoyuan jelly tangerines – juicy, sweet, and fresh. From the moment I booked, Emily, the guest relations manager, reached out with a friendly phone call, making sure everything was taken care of. Location-wise, it’s unbeatable – just across the street from In99, where dining, shopping, and entertainment are all within easy reach. Yet, despite being in the heart of the action, the hotel somehow manages to feel calm and serene – more peaceful than the Waldorf right next door. This stay was truly flawless. If you’re ever in Chengdu for work or play, this is definitely a top pick.

Our stay in Chengdu was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we checked in, Jia-Ning greeted us with such warmth and enthusiasm, sharing detailed insights about the hotel's surroundings and must-visit spots around the city. It made exploring Chengdu feel so effortless and authentic. The room was quiet, spacious, and incredibly comfortable—especially the bed, which provided a perfect night’s sleep. Minyoun Chengdu Kehua Hotel

Staying at Minyoun Chengdu Kehua Hotel was an absolute delight. Located right by the river, the hotel offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere—perfect for unwinding after a busy day. The room was on a higher floor, which not only provided great views but also kept noise to a minimum. Everything was well-maintained: clean, spacious, with a bathtub and all essential amenities neatly arranged. I was impressed by the robot delivery for takeout orders—such a cool touch! Staff were attentive and friendly, especially Diana and Xiao Zhang, who personally brought fresh fruit and even offered welcome tea upon arrival. There was also complimentary mineral water available at the elevator area—a small but thoughtful detail. Every aspect of the stay felt premium and well thought out. This is one of those hotels where you can truly feel cared for. Highly recommend it—10/10, would definitely return.

Staying at Renaissance Chengdu Hotel again during my visit to Chengdu was an absolute delight. The location is incredibly convenient—just steps away from the metro, making it easy to explore the city’s top attractions. The front desk staff—Xiao Du, Leo, and Rose—were exceptionally warm and welcoming, making check-in smooth and personal. The concierge team was helpful and courteous, always ready to assist with recommendations or transportation needs. Breakfast was outstanding: a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options, both local and international, served with care. Room service arrived promptly and was professional throughout. I especially loved the 29th-floor lounge—elegant ambiance, stunning views of the city skyline, and attentive yet unobtrusive service. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing drink after a long day. This stay exceeded all expectations. I’m already looking forward to returning—the experience was flawless, and the value truly stands out.
