What really stood out was the convenience: just a 3-minute walk to Line 5 metro station, which made exploring the city effortless. Lian Yun Hotel

We stayed at Lian Yun Hotel for both legs of our trip to Kunming and the southeastern Yunnan loop, and it was an excellent experience. On arrival, we checked into Building 2—clean, well-maintained, and super convenient with great value for money. A few days later, when we returned to Kunming, Building 2 was fully booked due to government meetings, so we were lucky to secure a room in Building 5. The newly renovated building has a sophisticated, elegant vibe, and a friendly staff member even helped us personally tour the rooms. We finally picked one with a stunning view through a huge window—truly like stepping into a painting! We’d have loved to extend our stay by two more days, but had to leave early. Still, we’re deeply grateful to Mr. An at the front desk for going the extra mile—negotiating with guests who already had reservations to help us keep our original room. Though we couldn’t stay longer, his professionalism and kindness made all the difference. While Lian Yun Hotel may be smaller than iconic venues like Hangzhou’s West Lake Guesthouse or Zhenjiang’s Reception Hall, its service quality is absolutely on par. And being just steps away from Cuihu Lake, it offers the perfect balance of urban convenience and peaceful retreat—ideal for travelers who want to slow down in the heart of Kunming.

The location is unbeatable, just steps away from the serene Lake Cuihu, with easy walking access to Yunnan University and the historic Military Academy. It’s perfectly quiet yet still central—ideal for both sightseeing and relaxation. The front desk staff were efficient and genuinely helpful, even setting up a service group to recommend nearby attractions. I especially appreciated the complimentary warm herbal teas available in the lobby—such a thoughtful touch. The room itself was stylish yet practical, cozy and spotlessly clean. The mattress and pillows were incredibly comfortable, making for a restful night’s sleep. The smart room system made everything seamless—adjusting lights and curtains with one tap, while the shower delivered strong, consistent water flow. Bathroom amenities were high-quality and thoughtfully chosen. Breakfast offered a great mix of Western and local flavors, and the late-night snack option was a pleasant surprise. Their signature local rice noodles were authentic and delicious, and the coffee? Top-notch. I was also impressed by the excellent soundproofing—even though the room is on the ground floor, closing the door completely blocked out any lobby noise. Plus, having access to a laundry facility and a fully equipped fitness center made it perfect for both business travelers and leisure guests. Overall, the value for money is outstanding. If I ever come back to Kunming, this will be my first choice without hesitation.

Staying at The Ananas Hotel (Greenlake Branch) in Kunming was an absolutely delightful experience. The facilities are excellent, the rooms are spotlessly clean, and the overall environment is wonderfully quiet—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What truly stood out was the exceptional service: I arrived earlier than check-in time, and they kindly arranged early access as soon as a room became available—so thoughtful! They also offered a complimentary tea and snack station with freshly brewed coffee, signature flower cakes, and authentic Yunnan pastries like egg yolk tarts—each bite was delicious. When I mentioned a minor issue with my initial room, they responded immediately by upgrading me to a larger, sunlit room with excellent space and a smart wet/dry separation—truly a game-changer. Breakfast was varied and tasty, and the location couldn’t be better—just steps away from Green Lake Park, making it easy to explore on foot. I stayed here with friends for New Year’s Eve, and the atmosphere was perfect. I’d definitely come back again. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and warm throughout—genuine smiles and attentive care made all the difference. A wonderful stay from start to finish!
